McKenzie River TrailApril 28, 2001On April 28 an intrepid group of hikers (Bob Huntley, Chuck Reul and Jan Jacobsen) led by Sandy Reul explored the McKenzie River. Beginning five miles past the McKenzie Ranger Station at 9:30 a.m. and under "mixed" skies, we followed the rushing river and its tributaries, and crossed several log bridges to arrive at our lunch spot: the trail's end at Carmen Reservoir. En route, Sandy showed the group the private natural jacuzzi (natural hot springs) that lies along one section of the river and cleverly arranged for sunshine at lunch. The happy but exhausted group returned to the car at 3:40 p.m. Many thanks to Chuck for driving. |
