What began as a round trip to Lower Rosary Lake evolved into an extended circular adventure.
After climbing out of some rain at Willamette Pass we lunched in light snow at the lake.
We decided to continue on to the upper two lakes.
The snow kept getting better so we climbed up to Maiden Peak saddle and past the PCT and Skyline
A skier we met told us of the snowcat trail from the backside ski lift down to the Willamette Pass
We discovered how close the serene wilderness is to the developed ski slopes.
Joining snow boarders and skiers for a short distance, we soon found the access trail and enjoyed
a groomed two-mile descent back to the parking lot.
It was a fantastic day, combining back-country skiing and a brief downhill run.
I hope other Obsidians were having as good a time as members Lew Bowers and leader Michael Landes.
