Diamond FallsFebruary 28, 2000We met at Albertson’s parking lot on a beautiful Friday morning. Luckily, the reports on Willamette Pass/Hwy. 58 promised clear roads. So I was able to take my non-snow-friendly van. We left from the Salt Creek Falls SnoPark at 11:00 a.m. The snow was very icy and presented a few tricky traverses on the hard pack. After a foiled attempt to reach the base of the Lower Diamond Falls due to a treacherous log bridge any fool would know not to cross, we had peaceful warm lunch at the Upper Falls overlook. Back to the cars by 2:30 p.m. Three happy and more experienced snow-shoers had an uneventful drive home. Obsidians Max Brown, Genie Currier and leader Peggy Lee Mathes all had a great time. |
