Bechtel Shelter (Skijor)January 30, 2000Three primates and two canines set out in almost perfect powder from the Gold Lake SnoPark at about 10:00 a.m., bound for the Bechtel Shelter area and beyond. This trip was a bit unusual, as it provided a chance for participants to harness themselves for the first time to a Siberian Husky and get a little octane into their kick steps. Stormy, the silver Husky, provided pulling services for all comers, and we paused only long enough to switch harnesses. After lunch at the shelter, we skijored deeper into the woods, played in the powder in a couple of bowls and then made our way back to the cars. Participants were non-members Anne Hollander and Marcia Trotter, dogs were Stormy and Mocha, and Doug McCarty led this first Obsidian skijoring trip. |
