Sand Mountain BasinJanuary 29, 2000The basin between Sand Mountain and Little Nash Crater provides fine views on a clear day. Our group was fortunate to experience a cold but clear day for this trip. Once past a short uphill icy section, we emerged into the basin where the snow conditions improved. Following a brief lunch we toured the area and were treated to the sight of Mt. Jefferson, Three-Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington and the Three Sisters blanketed with snow under a brilliant blue sky. Our group for this sojourn consisted of Bill McWhorter, Liz Conibear, Steve Goins, John Hegg, Michelle Tambellini, Diane Jeffcott and Sam Miller (leader). |
