Our fall Saturday trip to Lowder Mountain could not have been better!
The drive up was breathtaking with all the different hues of autumn.
The weather was cool in the morning followed by warm sun in the afternoon.
Nine of us enjoyed the multitude of fall colors that surrounded us as we hiked.
While eating lunch at the top we enjoyed the panoramic views of the mountains
as well as views of Ruth and Carl Lakes. We all decided that fall was the best time for this hike.
After returning to the cars five of us went looking for Quaking Aspen Swamp.
After going over a mile we did see a few aspens. Several tired hikers were not
overly impressed with the aspens. We ended the day with a huge ice cream cone from the Vida Store.
It was rumored that another group stopped for pie at the Rustic Skillet,
which is rumored to be much better than Mom’s Pie Shop.
Hikers were Yuan Hopkins, Barbara Shomaker, Wally Adrriance, Barbara Bruns, Don Ladigin, Michelle
Tambellini, Barbara Sutherland, Nola Shurtleff and Diane Jeffcott, leader.
