Thirteen of us nearly had the trail to ourselves on this sparkly, late summer day as we walked counter clockwise across the bridge at the beginning of the McKenzie River and on around the lake. We periodically stopped to admire the profuse crop of Oregon grape and
bunchberries, the girth of some of the old-growth trees and the luminous, crystal clear emerald colored water. We ate lunch at the Great Springs and continued on around the lake, enjoying views of the Three Sisters and Mt. Washington and lastly stopping to chat with some drysuited scuba divers. I would like to give a special thanks to Suzanne & Ted, who were especially considerate sweeps. Hikers were non-members Debbie Bernhard, Alfred Borchert, Norm Gartley, Ed McFall, Cheryl Weimer, Ted Shannon, Barbara Sutherland and Obsidians Jean Butler, Yuan Hopkins, George Reddick, Barbara Shomaker, Suzanne Shannon and leader Margee Wright.
