July 1, 2000
July first found seven hikers on Mt. Pisgah, grateful for a break in high
temperatures experienced the week before. After hiking to the summit we headed
down the north side to connect with the trail to the east trailhead.
The hike wound through meadows dotted with a variety of wild flowers and
through treed areas boasting a variety of species. After a brief pause at
the parking area, we headed back up the trail, veering to the south and
finally connecting to the South Boundary Trail. Just prior to our lunch
break a large snake was upset to be disturbed from its nap in the sun.
After lunch we took the Cedar Trail back to the parking lot.
Participants on this hike were Obsidians John Agnew, Anne McLucas,
Benette Rauch and leader Janet Hall. Non-members included Barbara Bakke,
Brad Clement and Jean Butler.
