Silver Falls State Park

May 7, 2000

The skies were dark, the forecast was for rain, but that did not stop this determined group wanting to see some of Oregon’s most beautiful and accessible waterfalls at Silver Falls State Park. We were all so prepared for rain, the day turned out with blue skies and very pleasant temperatures. We did the classic seven-mile loop hike starting at South Falls. We saw many blossoms: trillium, yellow violets, bleeding hearts, golden trout lilies, candy stripe, salmonberry, but the corydalis outdid themselves in beautiful displays of delicate pink spikes in seas of green. Hikers were Joella Ewing, Yuan Hopkins, Bill & Margaret Prentice, Benette Rauch, Barbara Schomaker, Ellen Syversen, Michelle Tambellini, Marilyn Waff, Heiner Wagener, Mel Zavodsky and leader Clare Tucker.
