Kentucky FallsApril 8, 2000April is a great time to do this hike. The falls were powerfully full of water and the blooming trilliums were wonderful! We had just a few sprinkles in the afternoon but mostly the skies were partly sunny/cloudy. We had a pleasant group of eight hikers. The trail needed a tad of clearing beyond the lower falls but it was certainly nice to extend the hike beyond the standard four miles (round trip). Late summer we need to try the entire 8.5-mile trail (accomplished by car shuttling and a few creek crossing). A friend of mine hid bikes at the Kentucky Falls trailhead, hiked up from the lower North Fork 5-mile trailhead and had a great bike ride back to their car! Hikers were Katie & Alan Robertson, Bob Huntley, Don Ladigin, Liz Kelly, Heiner Wagener and Lori & Gordon Robertson (leaders). |
