Gold & Marilyn Lakes

December 18, 1999

On a warm Saturday while many were battling the crowds Christmas shopping, three of us went skiing and had a great time. We left Eugene at 8:00, stopped at the coffee but in Oakridge (Mrs. McGuillicuddy’s has closed), parked at the Gold Lake SnoPark, hiked a mile across the parking lot to the trailhead, then began skiing. We made it to the lake in 50 minutes, then headed to Marilyn Lakes for a lunch break. It snowed lightly throughout the day. We (Janet Hall, Ed Lichtenstein and Diane Jeffcott, leader) were back in Eugene by 3:00. Our driver, Ed, charged us the new rate of 5¢ a mile. We were glad to pay, cause we got to enjoy the comfortable car without having to stay alert and drive; 5¢ a mile is a breeze for all the riders. Anyone who objects can drive their own car!
