Rain combined with snow flurries made an adventurous ski tour to Midnight Lake.
Following a path already made in the heavy, wet snow, we accidentally skied past the lake turnoff
but were rescued by the more astute explorers of our group who recognized we had gone too far
and retraced our tracks for about a half-mile.
Once at the lake, greeted by other early season skiers from Eugene, we all rested on our skis,
still standing, huddled against the cold, and rather quickly consumed our lunch for energy.
We made it back to our cars in time to beat the rain and stormy weather in the mountains but drove
full ahead into early winter rain storms and darkness on our way to Eugene.
Although the weather is more unpredictable on November and December ski trips, it provides great
adventure close to home on a day outing.
Thanks to all who contributed to a fun trip.
Sharing the early season trip were Colette Govan, Doug McCarty, Anne Dhu McLucas, Bob Lemon,
Max Vollmer, Sue Wolling, Mel Zadvodsky and David Roderick (leader).
