Row River Trail

December 5, 1999

Everybody seemed to be enjoying this level hike on the asphalt path along the reservoir’s edge. Most of us were deep in conversation as we walked. A light drizzle refreshed us as we strode along. We were disappointed to see that the water level in the reservoir was at its fall low, exposing stumps and mud. Four out of nine of us hikers are converts to “simple living” from having read Your Money or Your Life, and put its advice into practice, so we had much to share. Lunch was eaten quickly along a creek, but without rain. At the start of the trip the group voted unanimously to pay only $2 trip fee for nonmembers. All agreed that the $4 fee is excessive. The leader was left with a choice of canceling or accepting the group’s decision, and she accepted and went along with the group’s decision. Participants were Jane Dods, Pat Heron, Yuan Hopkins, Mary James, Virginia Prouty, Bill Laughlin, Lucy Rayle, Michelle Tambellini and leader Susan Baker.
