Patjens Lakes

October 24, 1999

Twelve hikers enjoyed the Patjens Lake Loop trail on the last nice day of October, at least for hiking in the high country. The hike in the Mount Washington Wilderness near Hoodoo is a nice high elevation walk, passing by three small lakes. It was cool but clear in spite of the threat of the first snow of the season. The snow fortunately waited until the next day. There was evidence of a great year for wild flowers, especially beargrass. Enjoying the 5.5 mile hike were a great group: Stephanie Astorino, Mari Baldwin, Jean Beeson, Barbara Chinn, Genie Currier, Yuan Hopkins, Vi Johnson, Helen Liguori, Nola Shurtleff, Maggie Young, Mel Zavodsky and leader Mary Ellen West.
