October 2, 1999
The day couldn’t have been more perfect as 17 of us set various paces as we hiked around
the placid, transparent green waters of Clear Lake.
We had three road-runners, 11 meanderers, two photographers and one sweep.
The reflections of the flaming red Vine Maples on the opposite shore were awesome.
A few of us meanderers were surprised and delighted with the song of a little Water Ouzels.
After eating lunch scattered around the Great Spring, we headed back to our cars where we saw some
scuba divers in the parking lot.
We then parted and drove off to view the Fish Lake lava beds, Sahalie and Koosah Falls.
Clear Lake had been so spectacularly beautiful that day, a couple of hikers called the leader to
express their appreciation and another took a friend back to the lake the very next day.
Enjoying the day were non-members Bonnie Manheim, Dick & Lucy Rayle, Norma Moore, Heiner Wagoner,
Jack Williams and Melvin Zavodsky
with Obsidians Stephanie Astorino, Max Brown, Genie Currier, Yuan Hopkins, Ruth Kanagy, Teresita Ladd,
Helen Liguori, Lucile Peterson, Barbara Schomaker and Margee Wright (leader).
