On a clear spring pre-fall day, we entered the Diamond Peak Wilderness area to
visit this most unusual mountain basin.
En route, we had commanding close-up views of Diamond Peak, still covered with
intermittent snow banks.
After lots of uphill trekking, we descended to our lunch break beside Divide Lake.
Mt. Yoran (an ancient volcano plug) and other rugged peaks towered beside us.
An optional short hike provided great eastward views from the crest of the Cascades.
Participants were Jim Fritz, Lois Weinfeld, Benton Elliot, Joe Scheibe, Michelle Tambellini,
Laoni & Bob Davis, Roy Nelson, Danielle Delaby, Dick Hildreth, Tim Shincharger,
Barbara Schomaker and Jean Ridone, leader.
