Six hikers left the SEHS parking lot at 8:00 a.m., anticipating a good hike
under perfect skies.
We arrived at the trailhead in good time.
The first half of the trip was relatively level and through the woods.
After crossing the Pacific Crest Trail, we began ascending more steeply past
several rock outcrops and a few patches of lingering snow.
We saw lupine blooming as we left the shade of the trees.
Along the ridge of the north Twin we encountered considerable wind, which
persisted to the summit.
Accordingly, we hiked across the saddle and up the south Twin summit, where we
were able to eat lunch without much wind.
The views ranged from Mt. Jefferson to Mt. McLoughlin, and equal distances east
Reluctantly, we left the summit and soon returned to the trailhead and headed home.
Hikers were Obsidians Max Brown, Dick Hildreth and Ralph Nafziger, leader.
Non-members were Stephanie Astorino, Sue Peterson and Tim Shinabarger.
