This summer’s posted sheets at the YMCA have shared one common comment:
“Hike canceled or re-scheduled due to snow on the trail”.
This hike — originally slated for Canyon Creek Meadows below Three Fingered
— met the same fate.
However, rather than delay the opportunity to visit the mountains, a new destination
was substituted: Olallie Ridge.
The trail along this ridge was a great alternative.
Our group decided to hike a round-trip total of 8.5 miles through the cool forest and
spectacular wild flower displays.
Along the ridge we had exceptional views of the Sisters and surrounding peaks as we
walked a mile or more through the “Boulevard of Bear Grass” blooms.
A good time was had by all.
“All” included Anne Williams, Bill McWhorter, Sierra Miller and Sam Miller (leader).
