Ten of us hiked this 7.3-mile loop trail in the Diamond Peak Wilderness Area on a
beautiful clear, warm day.
We reached Fawn Lake in time for lunch beside the lake from where we had views of
Lakeview and Redtop Mountains.
We discovered that dragon flies near the water’s edge seemed to keep the mosquitoes away.
After lunch we continued over a saddle along a little used trail marked by blazes on trees.
Before completing our loop we tediously crossed over, under and around a huge pile
of criss-crossed fallen trees.
Evidently, because chain-saws are banned in wilderness areas, the trail has never been cleared.
Trip members were: Stephanie Astorini, Lois Weinfeld, Ellie Malner, J.S. Scott,
Michelle Tambellini, Bob Huntley, Don Ladigin, Bonnie Manheim, Benette Rauch
and leader Jean Ridone.
