The trip leader met a party of four at I-5 exit 129, North Roseburg.
We stopped at my place so as to take only one car and headed up the North Umpqua Hwy.
past Dry Creek Store about three miles to Marsters Bridge and onto Service Rd. #4770
for 10 miles to the parking lot at the end of the road.
The weather was cool and partly cloudy but no rain; good hiking conditions.
Reaching the lake about noon for lunch we decided to go around the upper lake.
There was snow off and on in the lake basin and the sun shone at times.
It was really nice, and the flowers were just starting to appear.
We then decided to start up the trail to the overlook above the lakes, but started
hitting more snow.
It got deeper and harder to find the trail and the blazes were harder to find, so we
all decided to make a wise retreat down and back to the car!
Making this trip were Jane Rodd-Marks, Sandra Larsen, Sheila Ward, Michelle Tambellini
and Lloyd Plaisted (leader).
