Tamolitch FallsMay 22, 1999Sunlight glinting off the rushing McKenzie River greeted the 14 fortunate hikers on a perfect day. We had left the SEHS parking lot about 8:30 a.m., stopped at Jennie B. Harris Wayside near McKenzie Bridge for a coffee, bagel/comfort break, and were on the trail by 11:00. The trail was in fine condition. Wild flowers seen included lady slippers and trillium. Tamolitch Pool was a beautiful deep green-blue and springs were issuing forth several feet above the pool, indicating a much higher than normal flow in the underground portion of the river above the pool. Guests were Daniele Delaby, B. Manheim, Julie Starita, Cathy Tilton and Connie Yost. Obsidians enjoying the hike were Terry Ianora, Becky Hanson, Dot Leland, Max Brown, Benette Rauch, Jane Rodd-Marks, Mary Millman (who has been on all our hikes to Tamolitch!) and leaders Maude Caldwell and Bill Loy. |
