Cook’s Ridge/Gwynn CreekMay 15, 1999We encountered only a few sprinkles on our drive to the coast. By the time we arrived at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center the sun was breaking through the clouds. The trail was soggy, but nicely covered with fallen needles and small cones. Our group of six hikers enjoyed the beautiful old growth trees, fresh ocean air and views, sunshine and good company. On the drive home we noted that the ocean seemed particularly calm with almost no wind. We stopped in Florence to treat ourselves to ice cream. Hikers were Bonnie Manheim, Banette Rauch, Don Ladigin, Max Brown, Nola Shurtleff and trip leader Lynette Boone. |
