[My thanks to Sam Tracer for telling me about the new trail on Brice Creek which goes to
a spectacular waterfall called Creek Falls II.]
We made an 8-8½-mile trip out of it by doing a car shuttle, starting at the east end
(the trail to the falls is approximately 25-ft. east of the old trailhead sign).
It switchbacks steeply up 500-800 (?) feet to the falls — which you walk behind
— then come back down to the Brice Creek Trail west of Trestle Creek.
We doubled back approximately five minutes to Trestle Creek and enjoyed a leisurely lunch
in the sun on the rocks beside the creek (creek? … it looked more like a raging river!).
After lunch we took the short trail to the very lovely lower falls, came out and headed down
the trail to the lower trailhead.
To see the new falls only would be a 2½mile loop. Well worth it.
The weather was perfect, the group was great.
Out of eight non-members we had requests for six membership applications!
Hikers were Hal Brown, Benton Elliott, Bob Eskew, Shelagh Keegan, Kathryn McNeal,
Karen & Lucy Rayle, Mary Millman, Dixie Minkler, Chuck Mitchell, Joe Scheiber,
Nola Shurtleff, Clare Tucker, Sheila Ward and Sharon Ritchie, leader.
