Shelter Cove Resort

April 4-5, 1998

It was pure luxury for four Obsidians in a lovely log cabin (with room for 11) on the shore of Odell Lake. The snow was deep in places near the resort but the terrain was rather steep so we went to the old favorite, Midnight Lake, and had a wonderful trip in perfect snow and quiet, the sun coming out at times. At Midnight Lake two sets of father-son teams were building an igloo and planning on staying overnight (in tents), and besides one other person we had the whole area almost solely to ourselves. We then returned to our log cabin and feasted, sharing food and stories and friendship, and rejoicing in our good fortune of being there and being together.

Next day we went to Odell Lake after a spectacular breakfast. Teresita took to the groomed trails and the rest of us did a good deal of the Maklaks Loop. We had overcast, sun, snow and peace, ending up at the lodge feeling very good. Skiers were Leona Devine, Diane Jeffcott, Teresita Ladd and trip leader Birgitte Williams.
