August 8, 1998
Franca Hernandez, Doug Wilson and trip leader Van Likes headed out under sunny skies up
the steeper Eula Ridge Trail on Saturday, August 8.
The trail was in good shape, and we found that the logs crossing the trail will at times be
notched by a chainsaw in order to provide a foothold up and over.
Franca pointed out a plant that was marked somewhat like a snakeskin on the leaves.
Another specimen she pointed out was not even a plant, but had a unique classification.
We reached the summit around noon — largely overgrown now around what used to be
an old lookout tower.
The only remains of it are upright concrete footings.
We had a clear view of the Sisters that day from the top.
