Lowder MountainJuly 12, 1998Lowder Mt. Trail was the first trip I took with the Obsidians, over 30 years ago. Clarence Landes was the leader. We met Friends of the Three Sisters who were on their annual July 4 weekend camp in a grove on the summit plateau. We found obsidian chips and grinding rocks left by Indians years ago … Lowder Mt.’s magic, strong as the first time, was with our group of ten this year. The flower bordered trail led us past the incredible rock garden on the way to the top. We ate at the rocky overlook above two small lakes, watching a parade of fluffy clouds and the mountain display. We managed with just two vehicles — just two to be washed, after gathering dust from the last 10 miles of gravel road. Thanks for driving, Barb. Sharing my favorite trip were Elliot & Priscilla Aronin, Wendy Clarke, Barb Elsen, Donna Hein, Don Ladigin, Helen Liguori, Nola Shurtleff, Judi & Velma Shirk (leader). |
