Opal CreekJune 21, 1998Another perfect hike at Opal Creek. Blue sky, crystal-clear water, 1,000-year-old trees. Unfortunately, it had just been featured on “Oregon Field Guide”, so it seemed much more congested. (Although at 17, we certainly added to the press! I promise to limit to 12 next year.) My very sincere thanks to Alan Coons and Dick Rayle for helping with the driving. At 220 miles round-trip, the drive home can be very long. Again this year, I ?led? a great group of people: Obsidians Elliot Aronin, Max Brown, Jim Clarkson, Maura Conlon McIvar, Alan Coons, Rita Johnson, Clare Tucker and Sheila Ward and non-members Eric Miller, Dick & Lucy Rayle and Steve Shriver. — Sharon Ritchie (?Leader?) |
