Gwynn Creek Loop

May 23, 1998

Participants for this hike met at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, and all arrived on time — amazing! It was a great group and a perfect day for hiking this lovely loop starting on the north side of the ridge, returning on the south side, crossing the many little streams and marveling at the great old growth, the flowers, the scents, the solitude and the sound from Gwynn Creek. We did encounter a very large social/hiking group from Eugene on our return trip hiking the “wrong way”. The beach by Gwynn Creek (unnamed State Park) was an extra special treat as the sand had returned and this stretch on the coast is uncommonly beautiful and was thoroughly enjoyed by Susan Baker, Max Brown, Mary Ann Hastings, Chuck Mitchell, Clare Tucker, Sheila Ward and Birgitte B. Williams, leader.
