Fall CreekMay 16, 1998Seven hikers met at the SEHS parking lot on a very gray Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. The remaining two hikers net us at the Dolly Varden CG trailhead at 10:30. By 10:40 we were on the trail. It was as green and lush as Fall Creek is known for. It was also very muddy due to recent rains. The group of weather-braving hikers was prepared with rain gear, but fortunately did not require it for the entire nine-mile hike! There were several down trees that the group went over, under and) around. At the end of the 3.5 mile trail, the entire group of muddy hikers was still game to continue on the second section. We hiked to a cave in the bank at Slide Creek and found a nice open spot to enjoy lunch in the sunshine. Once back to the road between trail sections, five hikers decided to follow the road back to the trailhead, and the other four opted to take the trail back … mud, blow-downs and all. By 3:40 all had arrived at their cars and headed back to town. Thanks for braving the weather, it paid off. Great hike by Debbie Ashton, Dick & Lucy Rayle, Keith Matteson, Sam Tracer, Mary Holbert, Rich & Jan Anselmo and Sierra Demo (trip leader). |
