Drift Creek FallsMay 2, 1998Drift Creek is located in the Coast Range, 12 miles or so east of Lincoln City off Hwy. 18. A 1.25-mile trail terminates at the recently constructed 240-ft. suspension bridge which spans 100-ft. deep Drift Creek Canyon. Just downstream from the bridge, a 75-ft. waterfall tumbles over a moss-covered cliff. The easy, well-graded trail winds down through old growth and would be accessible to most anyone. Compared to most Obsidian hikes, this one is short, but combined with a drive through Willamette Valley’s lush countryside on a fine spring day it makes a most satisfying trip. Thanks to Heiner for driving us all in his comfortable van. We were: Brenda Andrew, Karen Colton, Bonnie Ledford, Mary Millman, Nola Shurtleff, Heiner Wagener and leader Leona Devine. |
