Shotgun CreekApril 26, 1998This hike began from the parking lot at Shotgun Creek Rereation Area. Six of us followed along the river through a mixed forest of Douglas fir, ferns and wild flowers. As the trail gained gentle elevation we were able to identify lady slipper orchids, bleeding hearts, purple and white iris, trillium, white lilies, fairy bells and Poison Oak! A half hour into the hike we were joined by our seventh hiker. We continued gently up through larger Douglas fir, madrone and dogwood to Drury Ridge. After a short sun and snack break we headed down over several creeks to the cars. A pleasant hike, a mild day and nice company consisting of Dianna Cantwell, Rita Johnson, Janet Smith, Debbie Ashton, Joanne Leder, Susan Bacon and leader Sierra Demo. |
