Mary’s PeakApril 17, 1998Our hike began at the North Ridge trailhead west of Philomath. The trail passed through heavily forested slopes with many switch backs. The weather was comfortably cool with some late warm sun breaks. There was shallow snow during the last 400-500-ft. of climb. We reached the parking and observation area and found a convenient picnic table in time for lunch. We then continued 0.6 more miles to the 4,097-ft summit, completing a 2,300-ft. climb in four miles. Our group — Jack O’Leary, Jan Smith, Wendy Clarke, Dan Bates and leader Jean Ridone — was small, congenial and fit comfortably into one van. |
