Gold Lake

February 16, 1997

We had a very warm and partly sunny day for our ski to Gold Lake Shelter. The trip was billed for beginners, but the three people who showed up — Chuck Mitchell, Genie Currier (and leader Clare Tucker) — were all experienced skiers. The trail to Gold Lake had five or six washouts along it, which made for some excitement if you didn’t chicken out and take off your skis! And the nice long run down to the lake was just fast enough given the oatmeal slush we were skiing in. Not great skiing, but better than staying in the Valley!
