Bechtel ShelterJanuary 12, 1997We had a gorgeous, cold day; the roads were clear, and the snow was terrible. I don't think I’ve ever skied worse snow. But Obsidians are either tenacious or crazy. Here we were on a beginner ski trip trying to ski on ice; and it was cold and windy to boot! But nobody turned back early to seek shelter at the snow lodge (as we suggested to the beginners) and nobody broke a leg. Our two rank beginners did have sense enough to walk down the scary parts, and everyone else agreed at the bottom of the hill that “it really wasn’t as bad as it looked”! Our group included several new people we hope we’ll see again on better snow. Participants were Susan Baker, David Brown, Melody & Jim Clarkson, Genie Currier, Dot Leland, Helen Liguori, Sylvia Stead, Claudia & Wayne Vincent and leader Clare Tucker. |
