A sunny day: good hiking conditions for eight Obsidians and two non-members.
We set up a shuttle and began to hike downstream from Rd. 1828 to the beginning of the trail at
Dolly Varden with a stop for lunch at Bedrock Campground.
However, at about the 3½-mile point, one hiker got turned around and proceeded upstream.
The leader instructed the group to lunch at Bedrock and went back after the wrong-way hiker.
Another hiker also turned back to retrieve the shuttle van at Rd. 1828.
Eventually the leader found the errant hiker and the group was shuttled from Bedrock back to
the start at Rd. 1828 where we were all reunited.
There was still time for a short hike upstream for about 1½ miles where the trail was blocked
by a large fallen tree, and then back to Rd. 1828.
The actual hike for seven of the party was about 5-6 miles — shorter but still very enjoyable.
Fall Creek always puts on a good show in the Fall.
Hikers were Becky Hansen, Sheila Ward, Margaret Malsch, Lucy & Dick Rayle, Rita Johnson,
Max Brown, Susan Baker, Margee Wright and trip leader Ed Lichtenstein.
