Substitute PointSeptember 14, 1997Those of us who were crazy enough to chance the weather — despite predictions of thunder and rain — ended up lucky. It was a nice day for hiking, cool with the sun and clouds warring with each other. It’s the first time I’ve hiked here with mud on the trail, but it was nice to see it different from dry and hot. Along the way we ran into grouse scurrying on the trail. I ended up seeing a total of five. It made up for the lack of a view of the Sisters which were hidden behind clouds. It didn’t matter much, as it was too cool to stay long at the top. The company made this 10 miles a pleasure. Joining me (Denise Sevigny, trip leader) were Sharon Ritchie, Dave Swindell, and Virginia Prouty. |
