Green Lakes/Park Meadow
August 31, 1997
Green Lakes to Park Meadow or Park Meadow to Green Lakes.
From either direction the 14-mile hike from Park Meadow and Green Lakes trailheads is fabulous.
The walk through the high country around and between Broken Top and South Sister and the meadows,
Park and green, provides a wonderfully diverse scenic experience.
Twelve hikers began at Park Meadow trailhead and 11 started from Green Lakes trailhead.
A pass key made the trip possible.
Drivers exchanged cars at the SEHS parking lot and drove to their respective trailheads.
At near the midway point (above the Green Lakes basin) car keys were exchanged and the
hikers/drivers went on to the other trailhead and their own cars.
Hikers were super, congenial and cooperative — a great team.
The two groups of hikers included: Group 1 — Cheryl Berry, Mark Briggs,
Jim & Melody Clarkson, Janet Hall, Kris Kennedy, Bob Lemon, Anne McLucas, Joanne Vinton
and Blyth & Russ Carpenter (leaders).
Group 2 — Max Brown, Barbara Chinn, Jim Fritz, Mary Ann Hastings, Ed Lichtenstein,
Helen Liguori, Sig Otto, Hal & Joyce Owens, Barry Taub, Craig Weinerman
and Mary Ellen West (leader).
