McKenzie River TrailJune 21, 1997On a chilly and rainy day warmed only by the camaraderie of our party, we hiked from Road 612 near Trail Bridge campground to Tamolitch Pool and beyond into Tamolitch Valley. In the beauty of the forest, trees, ferns, moss and wildflowers revealed their beauty in the soft light of the day. The lilies, though few, were spectacular! We met a lone hiker and a group of Scouts backpacking into the area. Our thoughts roamed to the other group of Obsidians hiking the Upper McKenzie. We welcomed a stop at the Log Cabin Inn and greatly appreciated the warmth of the stove and a chance to dry out. Gloria & Katy Youngbauer joined members Mary Millman, Margee Wright, Bill Loy and leader Maude Caldwell for this hike. |
