Paradise Lodge (Rogue River)
April 5, 1997
Our group left SEHS at 8:00 a.m. and arrived at the Rogue River at Marial at noon.
We ate lunches sitting on the bridge crossing Mule Creek, which was running clear and beautiful.
The group of 19, hiking down river at different paces, took most of the afternoon.
The sun was shining but it was cool, making for perfect hiking conditions.
The trail was dry, which was a surprise after all the rain we have had.
Some of the group saw a raft flip in Blossom Bar, which is the most difficult rapid on the Rogue.
After reaching the lodge, some took naps, some hiked around the area, and others just visited.
At 6:30 we had snacks and at 7:00 we had a buffet dinner of steak, ham and shrimp fettuccine.
After a great night’s sleep we had a breakfast fit for a king, made our lunches and hit the
trail back up river to Marial.
Again, the sun was shining and it was cool, making for good hiking.
The last car left Marial by 1:00 p.m. and we were all home by 5:00.
This was a really fine group of people and I think they all had a good time.
Rogue River hikers were: Bill Bilbrough, Leon Dannen, Liz DeSheder, Becky Hansen, Sylvia Harvey,
Noreen & Scott Hovis, Vi Johnson, Corinne Hunt, Teresita Ladd, Ann & Ed Lichtenstein,
Joe Lowry, Ann Montgomery, Sandy & Chuck Reul, Chris & Peter Roberts and trip leader Bob Dark.
