Our trip to the North Loop from the Ray Benson SnoPark almost didn’t get off the ground.
Everyone who signed up was hoping someone else would be driving.
Thanks to Obsidian Helen Liguori, who agreed to drive at the last minute, we had a beautiful day
of excellent ski conditions.
It was sunny and warm with cloudless skies.
We started from the SnoPark around 10:30 am, and by 11 left the few icy patches we encountered
We stopped for our sun-drenched lunch at lovely Circle Lake.
By then it was T-shirt time.
The softened snow was forgiving and made us feel like real experts.
After taking in the spectacular view from the Island Junction Shelter, we took the South Loop
trail back to the SnoPark.
It was a full day that took us about nine total miles.
We left the HooDoo area at 3:00 for a comfortable trip back to Eugene.
Our little team consisted of Helen Liguori, Doris Allen and trip leader Hal Owen.
