Island Lake, Hand LakeMarch 9, 1996What a great day — we didn't expect it! We started from the Corbett SnoPark and skied down FS Road 2076, traversed up to Island Lake in deep soft snow and enjoyed lunch at the lake with views of Mt. Washington and Three Fingered Jack. Our hearts and bodies were warmed by the sun, the snow, the silence and the beauty of the mountains, lakes and streams. No gloves needed today! A side trip cross-country into beautiful Hand Lake was our next stop, and then back out to the cars by 3:00 pm. It was so comforting and fun for me (Dot Leland, leader) to have these ski companions and friends on this trip with me. Thanks Robert Howarth, Helen Liguori, Verlean McCoy, Gabe Ross and Royal Murdock for driving! |
