Maklaks LoopFebruary 26, 1996Maklaks Loop seldom lets you down, a few challenging hills and then just enough elevation gain for a good ride out. We had 12 inches of powder snow, mild temperatures, with sunshine and scattered clouds. Couldn’t have been better. We broke trail all the way, but no problem for 11 strong skiers. The telemarkers among us had great fun on the slopes. Perfect conditions, they said. Heading out Hwy. 58, we came upon a serious accident along Lookout Reservoir, a two-car collision caused by black ice. Two of our drivers were able to offer emergency help, after which we proceeded on very cautiously, greatly sobered by this unfortunate event. In spite of getting off to a slow start it was a good day of skiing for non-members George Baitinger, Adriane Myers and Carolyn Wayland, and Obsidians Doris Allen, Joshua Ladau, Helen Liguori, Chuck Mitchell, Royal Murdock, Harold Thompson, Clare Tucker and leader Leona Devine. |
