East Fork Trail

November 17, 1996

On a somewhat drippy Sunday, Russ Carpenter and Ivan Vanderberg were lucky enough to hike with nine Obsidian ladies along the East Fork Trail of the McKenzie River. This trail is rarely visited, and features dense untouched forest along a wild stretch of the East Fork. The Forest Service has recently repaired bridges across the river, and has cleaned up the damage from the 1996 storms, so the trip was surprisingly free of obstacles. As usual, we all had a stimulating hike and a convivial time. East Fork hikers were Rita Johnson, Aileen Trainor, Susan Baker, Virginia Prouty, Ivan Vanderberg, Gloria Gunderson, Kris Kennedy, Judy Sladek, Anne Dhu McLucas and Russ & Blyth Carpenter (leaders).
