Sometimes everything goes right and you have the “perfect” hike.
Such was our hike along the Pacific Crest Trail to South Matthieu Lake.
The weather was ordered by the Chamber of Commerce, the group was terrific — although
Stuart never did skinny dip as we had all planned for our lunch entertainment!
After a trek over the lava beds and a beautiful mosquito-free forest trek, we had lunch overlooking
Janet brought and carried along homemade oatmeal/orange cookies for everyone.
The drive up and back was also incredible as the leaves are all changing and we were treated to
magnificence along the way.
Our one mishap was the inability to find a young virgin among the group to satisfy the volcano
god: but, oh, what the heck! … maybe next time.
Attending were Janet Mangus, Teresita Ladd, Judy Sladek, Stuart Werner, Paul Schollmeier,
Craig Weiman, Doris Allen and Melanie Clasen (leader).
