Twin Peaks

September 26, 1996

We left Eugene at 8:30, heading east on Hwy. 58 bound for the Waldo Lake area. At the Salt Creek area we encountered a construction delay occasioned by the construction project to widen Hwy. 58 to three lanes from there to the summit. The day was sunny and warm and we glimpsed only occasional patches of snow as we made our way up to the 7,300-ft. summit. Spectacular views of Waldo Lake, Diamond Peak, the Sisters, Jefferson and intervening peaks. After the hike we visited Waldo Lake and basked on the shore. Hikers were Allan Coons, Steve Schriver and Marc Hansen (trip leader).
