Under a dark, overcast sky we hiked south from the Lava Camp parking area.
It drizzled lightly most of the way up to the top of Yapoah Crater.
At the top, the wind howled and the rain stung as it pelted our faces.
A few of the last flowers of summer were still blooming. We hurried down before hypothermia set in!
On our return to Matthieu Lakes the clouds parted and the sun came out long enough for us to dry off.
The hike back to the car was pleasant and mild.
Enjoying the brisk mountain weather were Max Brown, Theresa Ciccolo, Maggie Gantrum, Dick Hildreth,
Anne McLucas, Ray Mikesell and leader Dave Predeek.
