Because of road and trail conditions, the Lowder Mt. hike became the “surprise” hike
around Clear Lake — it would have been nice if I had called all 16 people who signed up
… however, I didn’t.
Only one person left when she heard the trip had been changed — and did she miss a good time!
Clear Lake was beautifully clear with glimpses of the Sisters.
The resident osprey put on a nice show, we heard an eagle, saw ouzel and lots of flowers.
Part of the trail was closed where the eagles were nesting, so seven of us hiked an extra two
miles to see Sahallie Falls.
Two very adventurous Obsidians drank water from the head waters of the McKenzie and will now be
assured of eternal life!
One hiker got lost and wasn’t even aware that six people spent half-an-hour looking for her.
She had slithered past them, obviously trying to win the race. Way to go, Lucy!
Coffee tasted good at the lodge, and a good day hiking and meeting people was had by Susan Bacon,
Ellen & Ralph Core, Paul Jasheway, Joanne Ledet, Chuck Mitchell, Mary Millman,
Dick & Lucy Rayle, Velma Shirk, Jean Skinner, Clare Tucker, Lee Williams, Doris Allen
and Diane Jeffcott (leader).
