Kentucky FallsMay 26, 1996On Saturday, May 24, 15 hikers went to see Kentucky Falls. We saw many wild flowers and enjoyed the three magnificent falls (one is the upper falls; the second is the dual falls) which were fuller than we had ever seen before. Although many trees had fallen across the trail, there was no need to bend or crouch because of the work someone had done with a chain saw. One interesting event was the discovery of a new trail about 100 yards before the end of the trail. The only information we had was a sign which read "¾ mile". That was all of the bait some of us needed. Naturally, before we had gone too far the trail ran out and we had to retreat to the main trail and on to the lower falls, where half of our members were lounging in the warmish spray of the falls. It was a good trip with good people. Kentucky Falls hikers were Bonnie Ledford,.Janet Levine, Jackie Bryson, Melody Quellet, Darlene Thomason, Nola Shiutleff, Doris Allen, Max Brown, Rita Johnson, Helen Liguori, Ann McLucas, Dave Predeek, Sig Otto, and George & Diane Jeffcott (trip leader). |
