Rabbit Ears (via Rooster Rock)
May 4, 1996
Another beautiful day in paradise. After meeting at the SEHS parking lot the 12 of us drove the
1½ hours to the trailhead 21 miles from Sweethome.
The two hours steady uphill 2300 ft. to Rooster Rock was a good workout.
After a short break and after viewing our goal of a bare rocky point overlooking Rabbit Ears,
we hiked another 1000 ft. and an hour uphill to a trail that at times was faint indeed and
covered with snow.
Just when the consensus of the group was that the leader was lost or crazy we reached the spectacular
lunch spot and a welcomed rest.
After a leisurely lunch we returned to the cars in much quicker fashion.
Participants included non-members Jake Dudell and Dick & Nancy Rayle.
Obsidians were Gary Marx, Dan Bates, Max Brown, Ivan Vandeberg, Rich &. Jan Anselmo,
and Judy & Chuck Reul (trip leader).
