Koosah-Sahalie Falls LoopMay 3, 1996Our rather short hike took place during a “window of opportunity” … beginning in a brief snow shower and ending in a heavy downpour. From Koosah Falls, we went downstream and crossed the McKenzie River at Carmen-Smith Reservoir. We then hiked up the McKenzie River Trail on one side to Sahalie Falls and down the other side back to Koosah Falls. The spring run-off made the falls and rapids especially spectacular. Jean commented that he saw more rugged rapids in half an hour than he’s seen in a day of rafting in the Grand Canyon! On the trip were Jo Nairn, Dixie Minkly, Bev Halter, Doris Allen, Scott Hovis, Mary Millman and leader Jean Ridone. |
